Feb. 25--Runners interested in competing in the 2015 Bank of America Chicago Marathon can enter a lottery for the event beginning at noon March 10.
Those who qualify for a guaranteed entry also can register at that time. The deadline for entering the lottery or registering for the Oct. 11 race is noon April 21.
This is the second year the lottery system will be used to determine who can participate. Last year's race produced a record 40,659 finishers.
"In 2014, we implemented a new registration process that brought together a mix of participants from near and far and on every level of the marathon spectrum, from first-timers to competitive athletes," race director Carey Pinkowski said in a statement. "The training and excitement that those runners brought to the race resulted in the largest finisher field in the history of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. We anticipate that this year's lottery will keep that momentum and spirit alive."
Lottery entrants will be notified of their selection status April 28 and will then have a week to complete the registration process. The registration fee is $185 for U.S. residents, $210 for nonresidents. For details, go to chicagomarathon.com.
