BRIEF: Chicago man charged in Oak Brook burglary

Feb. 18--A Chicago man has been charged in a Valentine's Day incident in Oak Brook in which several items were taken from a home on the 700 block of Deer Trail Lane and two vehicles were taken from the garage.

Anthony Fields, of the 7900 block of South Paulina Street, was charged Wednesday with residential burglary and unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, Oak Brook police said.

Police said they responded to the residence on Deer Trail Lane about 10:30 a.m. Feb. 14 for a report of a residential burglary. A side door of the home was forced open, and several unspecified items taken.

Fields and another offender allegedly stole two vehicles from the garage, police said. The vehicles were seen within an hour after the burglary being driven recklessly easy on Interstate 290, police said. Fields, was injured when he crashed a stolen vehicle on the interstate near Central Avenue, and was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County. The second offender fled the scene, police said. Bond for Fields was set at $40,000.

Because the investigation is ongoing, police said they had no comment, yet, on whether the Deer Trail Lane residence was specifically targeted.
