BRIEF: Chicago Heights man fatally shot

Jan. 24--A Chicago Heights man died this week after being shot in the head, authorities said.

The man was identified by the Cook County medical examiner's office as Donald L. Beasley, 36, of the 200 block of West Hickory Street who was shot on the block where he lived. He was pronounced dead at 11:59 a.m. Friday, officials said.

Beasley was a longtime resident of Chicago Heights, family told WGN-TV.

"This is a loss for our family. He was well-liked, he was funny ... this did not have to happen to him," an unidentified relative told WGN.

"He fed the whole 'hood," said another relative, who also called Beasley "a good person."

More information about the shooting was not immediately available.
