BRIEF: Chicago film fest founder to receive French Legion of Honor

June 03--Since dreamed up by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802, nearly 100,000 international celebrities of all kinds have been presented with the French Legion of Honor award -- Desmond Tutu, Jerry Lewis and Elizabeth Taylor among them.

Now their ranks include Chicago International Film Festival founder Michael Kutza, who has long been a supporter of French cinema. Kutza, just back from his annual scouting trip to the Cannes Film Festival, officially becomes a Legion of Honor Knight in a June 16 ceremony.

"Vive le cinema!" Kutza announced, in a prepared statement.

The 51st Chicago film festival runs Oct. 15-29.
