BRIEF: Chicago comedian Ron Funches lost more than 100 pounds

Jan. 25--Chicago comedian Ron Funches, who stars on the NBC show "Undateable," has lost more than 100 pounds over the last year through exercise and healthy food choices, People magazine reports.

Funches, who is 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighs in at 245 pounds, down from 355 pounds a year ago.

"My mom had mentioned a couple of times that she had been concerned, and she never mentioned it before, so when she brought that up, it made me take notice," said Funches, 32. "And then I have my son (Malcolm), who's 12, and I was seeing that his habits weren't (healthy), and that I was probably a bad influence on him. I wanted to change that."

Funches, who grew up on the South Side, said he began cutting out candy and soda in December 2014 and exercising six days a week.

"I love a good Roy Rogers or Shirley Temple, and I had to give those up. And Philly cheesesteaks. I love Philly cheesesteaks, and now they really aren't around anymore," Funches said.

Instead, he now eats Greek yogurt with fruit and a crunchy cereal or oatmeal with fruit and berries or peanut butter for breakfast; a turkey sandwich or small burrito for lunch; and chicken stir-fry or halibut for dinner.

"Undateable" airs 7 p.m. Fridays.
