BRIEF: Chicago Children's Theatre announces groundbreaking of new space

Dec. 02--Chicago Children's Theatre has announced a groundbreaking ceremony to be held Dec. 12 as construction begins on the company's West Loop home. The new space will be located at 100 S. Racine Ave, the site of the former 12th District Police Station.

The ceremony will mark the beginning of the first phase of construction. As previously announced, phase one will convert the existing space into a studio theater and classroom spaces and is set to be completed by early 2017.

Phase two, to be completed in 2020, features the addition of a new mainstage theater and supporting spaces.
