BRIEF: Chicago-bound Amtrak train strikes pedestrian

Nov. 23--A Chicago-bound Amtrak Wolverine train from the Detroit area struck a pedestrian in Michigan late Sunday morning, an Amtrak spokesman said.

Amtrak train 353, which schedules show was due into Chicago at 3:58 p.m., struck someone on the tracks about 11:54 a.m. Eastern Standard Time in Wayne, Mich., said Amtrak spokesman Steve Kulm. Wayne is about 25 miles west of downtown Detroit.

Kulm did not have information about the injuries suffered by the pedestrian, and Wayne police were not releasing information Sunday afternoon.

None of the 92 passengers and none of the crew members on board was injured, Kulm said.

The train was expected to be delayed a little more than three hours, according to Amtrak's website.
