Jan. 07--The Chicago Botanic Garden has seen a record number of visitors for the second consecutive year.
Garden officials said in a release Tuesday that they recorded an attendance of 1,058,000 in 2014. That was a 6 percent increase over 2013, which was the first year the garden topped 1 million visitors.
Sophia Shaw, president and CEO of the garden, says the 385-acre property has become "a refuge" for a growing number of people in the Chicago area. Shaw credits expanded programming and amenities for the increase.
The Chicago Botanic Garden is in Glencoe.
