BRIEF: Chicago artist cut from Syfy's 'Face Off' for flawed evil sorceress

March 03--Blame it on the witch.

Chicago special effects makeup artist Anna Cali was eliminated from the Syfy series "Face Off" in Wednesday's episode after creating a shadow enchantress with technical flaws.

Cali, an artist at Kosart Studios in Westmont, and the six other contestants were tasked with creating evil sorceresses. Cali had trouble managing her time while making the mold for her look, and the judges knocked her model's disproportionate features and black teeth.

"This challenge totally got away from me but I'm leaving here with my head held high. I love special effects makeup so I am definitely going to keep going for it," said Cali, who lives in the Belmont Heights neighborhood on the Northwest Side. "I'm not going to give up. This has not set me back at all."

Season 10 of "Face Off" premiered in January with 14 artists seeking the show's $100,000 prize. The series airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m.
