BRIEF: Chicago actress Gina Rodriguez describes how to avoid traffic tickets

Feb. 18--Gina Rodriguez won a Golden Globe for her acting on "Jane the Virgin" but it's her modeling skills that have gotten her out of trouble.

Rodriguez, 31, described Wednesday how she avoided traffic tickets while growing up in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side by making a funny face when she got her driver's license at age 16.

"So I did a funny face and the first time I was pulled over, the guy looks at the driver's license. He starts laughing and he's like, 'Do the face.' And I was like, 'OK,'" Rodriguez said as she showed off her funny face on "The Talk." "From 16 to 21, I didn't get one ticket. Every time they pulled (me) over, they asked me to do the face and I always got out of it."

Rodriguez said she took a new driver's license photo at age 21. Since 2014, she's played the lead on "Jane the Virgin," a comedy about a virgin who becomes pregnant after she is accidentally artificially inseminated.

"The Talk" airs weekdays on CBS at 1 p.m.

"Jane the Virgin" airs 8 p.m. Mondays on The CW.
