April 18--In 2010, Urban Meyer, then the Florida coach, made Chase Hounshell a scholarship offer he couldn't refuse.
But Hounshell decided he wouldn't take it after Meyer left the program after that season for what he said were health-related issues, leaving Hounshell to pledge to Notre Dame instead.
On Monday, Hounshell announced he will play for Meyer after all, after he transfers to Ohio State. There will be no scholarships involved this time because Hounshell will be a graduate walk-on.
The former Irish tight end/defensive lineman announced the move Monday on Twitter.
Hounshell spent five injury-riddled seasons in South Bend.
All four of the tackles he delivered as a freshman came against Air Force, one of seven games in which he appeared that season. He was injured in the 2012 opener and didn't play again for the Irish until 2014, when he appeared in three games.
He had one catch for six yards in 13 game appearances last season, which, coincidentally, ended at the hands of Ohio State by a 44-28 score on New Year's Day in the Fiesta Bowl.
