June 06--WASHINGTON -- Starlin Castro will receive his first break Saturday as rookie Addison Russell takes over at shortstop when the Chicago Cubs face Washington.
This marks the first time in 54 games that Castro won't start. With Sunday's game not starting until 3 p.m. CT followed by Monday's day off, Castro will get plenty of rest in the next few days.
Shortstop is Russell's natural position, but he has played second base exclusively since joining the Cubs on April 22.
Jonathan Herrera takes over at second.
