BRIEF: Casting announced for 'Othello' at Chicago Shakespeare

Dec. 29--Chicago Shakespeare Theater has announced casting for "Othello," a signature production that is part of the Shakespeare 400 festival.

James Vincent Meredith will play the title role in the Shakespearean tragedy, with Bethany Jillard as Desdemona and Michael Milligan as Iago. The cast also includes Luigi Sottile as Cassio, Jessie Fisher as Emilia, Melissa Carlson as the Duke of Venice, Laura Rook as Bianca and Fred Geyer as Roderigo, along with James Krag, David Lively, Bret Tuomi, Kevin Patrick Duffy, Conor Foley, Kyle Haden, Brian Grey, Cody Proctor, Marvin Quijada, Joseph Sultani and Max Thomas.

Jonathan Munby, a frequent director at Royal Shakespeare Company and Shakespeare's Globe, will direct the production.

"Othello" runs Feb. 18 -- April 10 at Chicago Shakespeare Theater on Navy Pier.
