BRIEF: Cardinals' Carson Palmer agrees to three-year extension worth $50 million

Nov. 07--Former USC quarterback Carson Palmer and the Arizona Cardinals have agreed to a three-year contract extension worth a reported $50 million.

Palmer, 34, has led the Cardinals to a 7-1 record, best in the NFL.

The Cardinals announced the extension on their website. Various outlets, including NFL.com and ESPN.com, have reported the $50-million figure.

Palmer was acquired by the Cardinals last season in a trade with the Oakland Raiders.

Palmer has passed for 11 touchdowns, with two interceptions, this season.

Palmer, the 2002 Heisman Trophy winner, was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals as the No. 1 pick in the 2003 NFL draft.
