BRIEF: Car plows into bus stop near USC, seriously injuring woman, 2 children

Oct. 27--A 32-year-old woman and two young children she was with were seriously hurt Monday after a car plowed into a bus stop near USC in University Village, police said.

The driver, who has not been identified, plowed into the woman and two children -- ages 1 and 3 -- while they were at the bus stop at the northwest corner of Vermont Avenue and Jefferson Boulevard at 1:05 p.m., Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.

The family was taken to an area hospital, where the woman and 1-year-old girl suffered critical injuries. The eldest child was in serious condition, Humphrey said.

The driver was not injured in the crash, he added.

The investigation into the crash remained ongoing, Los Angeles police Officer Drake Madison said.
