March 31--Chicago Tribune columnist Candace Jordan will receive Eversight Illinois' Woman of Vision award for her dedication to philanthropy in the Chicago community.
Eversight, formerly Midwest Eye-Banks, is an international organization dedicated to eye banking and corneal transplants to preserve and restore sight to those in need. The organization said it facilitated more than 2,400 corneal transplants last year.
"It's such an honor to be recognized by an organization that does so much for so many," Jordan said. "I can't imagine anything more life changing than the gift of sight."
Jordan has a Sunday Tribune column, "Candid Candace," and has previously been named one of Today's Chicago Woman's 100 Women Making a Difference and 100 Women of Influence.
Every year, Eversight Illinois selects a man or woman to receive its vision award for raising awareness and supporting philanthropy, said spokeswoman Brittany Wright.
Jordan and Gift of Sight award recipient Dr. Marian Macsai will be honored at Eversight Illinois' 18th annual gala in June.
