March 06--A cabdriver was stabbed early Friday morning during an attempted robbery in West Rogers Park on the North Side, police said.
About 2:30 a.m., the cabdriver picked up a male passenger who got into the car and announced a robbery, said Officer Ron Gaines, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.
During a struggle, the passenger stabbed the driver in the arm and leg. The cab then swerved and struck a vehicle, police said. The passenger fled without taking anything.
The cabdriver, a 32-year-old man, was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston where his condition stabilized. No other injuries were reported, police said.
As of early Friday, no one was in custody.
In a separate incident, a 19-year-old man was stabbed in Lincoln Park.
The man was stabbed in the 2200 block of North Bissell Street about 12:25 a.m. Friday. The man knew the person who stabbed him, police said.
The 19-year-old was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he was treated for cuts to his arm and chest. Police said the man was listed in good condition.
