Dec. 09--Police are warning residents and businesses in the Bucktown neighborhood of recent burglaries in high-end clothing stores in the area.
Two burglaries happened in the 1700 block of North Damen Avenue over the past two and a half weeks, according to an alert from the Chicago Police Department.
The latest burglary took place at 3:20 a.m. on Dec. 3, and the other incident occurred at 5:45 a.m. on Nov. 21, according to the alert.
In each incident, attackers used force to break into a clothing store and stole "a large quantity of merchandise," the alert said. The attackers also stole a cash register and fled the scene using a rental truck, which was likely a U-Haul.
The burglaries were captured on surveillance video, according to the alert.
The attackers are described as seven to eight males of unknown race, the alert said.
One suspect appears to be a black male.
The attackers wore facemasks, hooded sweatshirts or jackets, gloves and blue jeans. Anyone with information about the two burglaries should contact Area North detectives at 312-744-8263.
