April 16--The NBA conducted random drawings to break ties among teams with identical records to set the draft order, and the Bulls lost there too.
The Kings won their three-way tie with the Bucks and Nuggets, meaning the Kings landed the eighth pick in the June 23 draft.
The Kings owe the Bulls a first-round pick as long as it's not top-10 protected. With the Kings landing in the eighth slot, that means three teams slotted nine to 14 would have to move to the top three selections in the draft lottery to push the Kings out of the top 10.
The No. 9 team has a 1.7 percent chance at the top pick. The Bulls, currently 14th, own a 0.5 percent chance at the top pick.
Thus, it's almost a certainty the Kings don't convey the pick to the Bulls this year. It's protected 1-10 for one more year in 2017 and becomes a second-round pick protected Nos. 56-60 if the Kings again finish as one of the league's top-10 teams.
