BRIEF: No injuries when part of building collapses in Back of the Yards

Nov. 30--No injuries were reported when part of a building collapsed in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side early Monday morning, authorities said.

Firefighters were called to the 4800 block of South Ashland Avenue around 3:15 a.m., according to fire officials.

The second floor of the two-story building appeared to cave in. A pile of bricks and other debris lay on the sidewalk out front as firefighters arrived. A pawn shop was located on the first floor.

No one was injured but some people who live next to the building were displaced, according to fire officials.

CTA's No. 9 Ashland bus was temporarily rerouted via Ashland, 47th, Damen Avenue, 51st Street and Ashland.
