BRIEF: Brush fire in La Habra and Fullerton burns near homes

Sept. 09--A fast-moving brush fire broke out in Orange County on Tuesday, burning near homes in La Habra and Fullerton, authorities said.

The fire was first reported about 4 p.m. near Rosecrans Avenue and Beach Boulevard, said Capt. Steve Concialdi of the Orange County Fire Authority.

The Fullerton Fire Department is leading the firefight, but several local agencies are assisting, including the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

La Habra Mayor Pro Tem James Gomez told KTLA-TV Channel 5 that the fire is burning in dense brush flanked by homes and trails. He advised residents to be prepared to evacuate, although no mandatory evacuation orders have been issued.

"It's absolutely bone dry right now," he said.
