BRIEF: Bruised knee sidelines Bulls' Noah

Oct. 09--Joakim Noah sat out Bulls' practice Friday with a bruised left knee that both he and coach Fred Hoiberg called "minor."

Noah didn't need an MRI exam and got up shots on his own following the team's workout on the University of Colorado campus. Hoiberg said a decision hasn't been made yet whether Noah will play Saturday when the Bulls face the Timberwolves in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Given the team's conservative nature thus far in training camp, sitting Noah is possible if not likely.

Noah suffered the minor injury when he became entangled with the Nuggets' Kenneth Faried during a battle for a rebound in the first quarter of Thursday's loss. After briefly staying down, Noah walked off the court for a timeout under his own power and continued playing. Noah then sat out the second half, along with Jimmy Butler, a plan Hoiberg said had been in effect whether Noah had the incident or not.

Everybody but Noah practiced Friday. Hoiberg said it's undetermined whether Pau Gasol will make his exhibition debut on Saturday. Gasol, who has been practicing fully, has been held out of the first two games for rest following a busy offseason of international competition for Spain.
