Jan. 12--American tenor Brian Jagde will replace the previously announced Misha Didyk as Mario Cavaradossi in the first cast of Lyric Opera's production of Puccini's "Tosca," running Jan. 24 to Feb. 5 at the Civic Opera House.
This will mark Jagde's company debut, in a role he sang earlier this season at San Francisco Opera and previously in Berlin and Santa Fe.
Didyk withdrew from what was to have been his Lyric debut for personal reasons.
Other principal singers making Lyric debuts in the first series of "Tosca" performances are soprano Tatiana Serjan in the title role and bass-baritone Evgeny Nikitin as Scarpia. Dmitri Jurowski, also new to the company roster, conducts.
