March 13--Brandon Marshall said he wasn't surprised the Chicago Bears traded him, and he embraced his new place with the New York Jets on Friday in his first public comments since last week's trade.
New Bears general manager Ryan Pace dealt Marshall and a seventh-round pick last Friday for a fifth-rounder. The three-time Pro Bowler mostly addressed issues related to his new start with the Jets, but he did touch on the team that employed him for the last three seasons.
He said he and Bears quarterback Jay Cutler are "brothers" in characterizing how they love each other but don't always see eye-to-eye.
He dismissed the notion that he's a character problem, saying: "It's a personality, not a character issue."
And he indicated he has not decided whether to return as a panelist on Showtime's 'Inside the NFL' next season, although being in New York improves the convenience of that venture.
"It's only a 30-minute ride to Showtime if we choose to do that again," he said.
