Nov. 11--Charlie Moore, the Morgan Park point guard who vaulted to the top of Illinois' Class of 2016 with his outstanding play on the national AAU circuit last spring and summer, will announce his college decision on Thursday afternoon.
Moore said he is still in the process of deciding, but one school he will not pick is Illinois. Memphis, California and VCU are the contenders.
John Groce and his Illini staff were in hot pursuit of the 5-foot-10 senior, but they landed another point guard, Te'jon Lucas of Milwaukee, in September.
Moore said that's why he crossed the Illini off his list.
"Those are schools I think I'm going to have an immediate impact and they have a great relationship with my family," Moore said. "I will have a chance to go in and play right away."
Wednesday was the first day of the early signing period.
Moore plans to announce his decision at 3:30 at Morgan Park.
