BRIEF: Boy shot 6 times Dec. 16 dies

Dec. 28--A 15-year-old boy who was shot six times in the Altgeld Gardens neighborhood on Dec. 16 has died, authorities said.

Tyler Ellis, of the 700 block of East 131st Street in south suburban Riverdale, was pronounced dead Friday at 9:33 p.m. at the University of Chicago's Comer Children's Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Tyler was shot in the 600 block of East 133rd Street about 7:50 p.m., police said.

Police initially said Tyler was shot after getting into a dispute with someone, but later said he was shot after a car pulled up and people inside opened fire.

Officers found Tyler's body lying on the ground in the middle of a courtyard in the housing development, shot six times -- twice in the chest, twice in the head, and twice in the lower abdomen -- according to a police report.

Investigators learned that a silver Ford Taurus of an unknown year with a black rear bumper pulled up and occupants inside the vehicle opened fire,

The car fled in an unknown direction and police did not have a description of the assailants.

No arrests have been made.
