June 11--A young boy was rescued from a Batavia swimming pool Wednesday after almost drowning during a swimming lesson, fire officials said.
Firefighters were dispatched about 2:34 p.m., to Quarry Park Pool, 400 S. Water St., Batavia fire officials said in a news release. Upon arriving at the pool, fire and police officials found the young boy out of the water where pool staff were treating him, officials said.
He was conscious and breathing when Batavia Medic 51 paramedics arrived to transport him to Delnor Community Hospital.
The boy was taking a swimming test when he went under water, officials said. Staff immediately removed him from the water and performed first aid.
