BRIEF: Boy, 3, struck by car while trick-or-treating in Winnetka

Nov. 01--A car struck a 3-year-old boy while he was trick-or-treating Friday evening in north suburban Winnetka, authorities said.

The boy was hit when he ran into the street in the 1400 block of Asbury Avenue around 5:52 p.m., according to a press release from Winnetka Police Department.

The boy, who is a Glencoe resident, was taken to NorthShore Evanston Hospital where he is being treated, the release said. He is listed in good condition, said Northshore University HealthSystem spokesman Jim Anthony.

A 24-year-old Winnetka woman was behind the wheel of the car and has been cooperating with the police, the release said.

No citations have been issued as a result of the incident, which is still under investigation.
