BRIEF: Boy, 16, shot dead in Bridgeport

June 03--A 16-year-old boy was pronounced dead after being shot Friday morning in the Bridgeport neighborhood, according to Chicago police.

The teen was shot in the chest on the 3500 block of South Parnell Avenue at 11:35 a.m., said Officer Bari Lemmon, a police spokeswoman.

The boy, who police said was a known gang member, was pronounced dead at the scene.
