Dec. 02--An 11-year-old boy was struck Tuesday morning by an inbound Metra Electric train in Blue Island, authorities said.
The inbound train struck the boy near 127th Street and Winchester Avenue around 7:25 a.m., officials said, citing preliminary information. It appeared the boy was trying to beat the train.
The condition of the boy was not immediately available.
Inbound and outbound trains were halted near Burr Oak for more than an hour.
