BRIEF: Box cutter found at San Diego park

Jan. 26--San Diego officials Sunday called for the public's help in finding the person who has been leaving razor blades on a children's playground on Mission Bay.

Police and park officers swept the sand with metal detectors after a young boy found a box cutter with the blade extended Sunday morning.

On six occasions since August 2013, razor blades have been found embedded in the sand near the slides at the Bonita Cove park. Two children suffered cuts.

A $2,000 reward for information is being offered by the San Diego County Crime Stoppers and the Mission Bay Women's Club.

Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman asked anyone who has seen or heard anything to call police immediately.

"The person leaving razor blades must be stopped," said Councilman Todd Gloria.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477. Information can be received confidentially.
