Dec. 23--A Los Angeles Police Department bomb squad was investigating Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday afternoon after a suspicious item was spotted inside a screening machine on the ticketing level of Terminal 4.
Police were called to the airport around 3:45 p.m., but an LAX spokeswoman said that police activity had been cleared in Terminal 4 as of 4:29 p.m. Part of the airport was evacuated and traffic was diverted away from the scene during the investigation.
