BRIEF: Boil water in effect for Morton Grove, Golf

Dec. 06--Residents of Morton Grove living west of the North Branch for the Chicago River are under a boil order expected to last until Wednesday.

The action is a result of a mechanical failure which has resulted in low or not water pressure affecting residences and businesses. The boil order is for all residents west of the river and residents of the village of Golf.

Residents should bring water to a rolling boil for a minimum of 5 minutes prior to drinking it, village officials said in a statement.

"This is a precautionary measure due to possible contamination that can occur at times of low pressure," the state read. "Showering water or water used to clean dishes does not need to be treated."

As of Saturday afternoon the pumps were coming back online and affected residents and businesses were expected to be receiving water. However, the boil order remained in effect.
