BRIEF: Body pulled from Calumet River identified as Southwest Side man

May 12--A body that was pulled from the Calumet River on the Far South Side last month has been identified as a Southwest Side man, but the cause of his death is still unknown, officials said.

The remains have been identified as Daniel Killeen, 59, of the 6800 block of South Kedvale Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Further tests need to be completed before the cause and manner of Killeen's death is determined, a medical examiner's office spokesman said Tuesday afternoon.

Police were notified after someone saw the body about 3:20 p.m. April 19 floating in the water near 125th Street and Torrence Avenue, authorities said at the time. When the Chicago police marine unit responded, they found the badly decomposed body in the water.
