BRIEF: Body of missing camper found near Angel Island in San Francisco Bay

Sept. 09--The body of a missing 42-year-old camper was found in the water near his boat moored off Angel Island in San Francisco Bay.

The victim, Wouter Van Lier, was last seen alive at 1 a.m. Monday, on the boat, according to the Marin County Sheriff's Office.

After his wife reported him missing, rescue teams searched the water for the San Francisco resident but were initially unable to find him.

On Tuesday, a Marin County sheriff's dive team found his body where he was last seen, authorities said.

The coroner's office is looking into the cause and manner of his death. Findings could take six to eight weeks, authorities said.

Van Lier was reportedly camping with his wife and friends when he disappeared, KTVU reported. His wife said she thought he had gone hiking but became concerned when he didn't return and called authorities.

Van Lier founded Candide Consultancy, which offers consulting to companies committed to sustainable development, according to his Linkedin profile.
