Oct. 29--Los Angeles police detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a man whose body was found in the water Thursday morning near Point Fermin in San Pedro.
Officers responded to the 900 block of Paseo Del Mar about 8:30 a.m. after receiving calls that a man had been shot near the water, said LAPD Officer Aareon Jefferson said.

Officers found the body in the water, Jefferson said. He has not yet been identified.
The Los Angeles Fire Department assisted officers in retrieving the body, said Erik Scott, a department spokesman.
