BRIEF: Body found off Navy Pier

April 24--A body was discovered near a lighthouse off Navy Pier on Saturday afternoon, police said.

Police were called to the scene at 4:20 p.m. about a mile off the end of Navy Pier, where they found a body of an unknown sex and age, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

The body was to be taken to the Cook County medical examiner's office, Tannehill said.

It was not clear who spotted the body first. A Chicago police boat was on the scene.
