BRIEF: Officials: Body found in trash bin is Wheeling man

May 18--Remains found late last week in a West Side trash bin have been identified as a Wheeling man, officials said.

Michael T. Grunde, 25, of the 900 block of Honeysuckle Drive in Wheeling, was pronounced dead at 5:45 p.m. on the scene in the 1400 block of South Avers Avenue, according to Frank Shuftan, a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Shuftan said the cause and manner of Grunde's death are still unknown and pending further tests.

WGN-TV video from the scene showed Grunde's body was found across the alley from Hornbeam Playlot Park, 1426 S. Hamlin Ave.

The body was found about 4 p.m. Thursday, Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police Department spokesman, said at the time.
