Dec. 23--A dead man was found along the water's edge Monday afternoon off Venice Beach near Marina del Rey, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officials.
Originally, authorities said the body was found in the water.
A passerby found the man's body around 1:50 p.m. and authorities were called, sheriff's officials said. At least one person performed CPR on the victim until medical crews arrived, officials said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A rigid inflatable boat was located a short distance from the body. It was unclear if it belonged to the victim, officials said.
The cause of death was not released.
No other information about the victim was released.
