BRIEF: Autopsy: Man found dead along Ike was fatally struck by vehicle

Aug. 26--An autopsy determined that a Plainfield man who was discovered dead Monday afternoon on the side of the inbound Eisenhower Expressway died of injuries after being struck by a vehicle, officials said.

According to the Cook County medical examiner's office, the man is Lashawn Williams, 22, of the 14400 block of Independence Drive in Plainfield.

An autopsy Tuesday determined that Williams died of multiple blunt-force injuries from being struck by a motor vehicle. His death was ruled an accident, according to the medical examiner's office.

A man at Williams' residence who identified himself as his father said he suspects foul play and questions how no one saw anything.

He called Williams "a good kid" and said his son had just started a new job.

Troopers were called to the scene around 3:30 p.m. They found the body off to the right side of the expressway, state police said.

Investigators think Williams was struck by a vehicle on the expressway early Monday morning. Police said they do not have any further information, including details about the vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing.
