May 03--Strong starts were hard to come by for the Blackhawks in their series against the Predators.
But the Hawks showed this was a new series against the Wild in Game 1 by jumping out to a 3-0 lead. The Hawks want more of the same in Game 2 on Sunday night.
"We want to come with energy, let's make sure there's purpose to our game," coach Joel Quenneville said. "We don't anticipate that kind of production, but let's make sure we do the right things. We expect a faster pace and our opponents to be ready too."
The Wild came back to tie it 3-3 before the Hawks got the go-ahead goal from Teuvo Teravainen.
The Hawks said they were focused on making sure the Wild didn't have a similar run Sunday.
"In the playoffs, when one team gets going and has some momentum like that it's tough to stop sometimes," defenseman Brent Seabrook said. "We came out hard and had a bunch of opportunities and chances in the first and were able to capitalize. They did the same thing. They have some players over there who will make you pay if you give them an inch."
Winger Kris Versteeg didn't participate in the morning skate because of a lower-body injury. Justin Fontaine was not expected to play for the Wild in Game 2.
