BRIEF: Blackhawks trim roster to 48

Sept. 25--The Blackhawks trimmed their roster to 48 players on Friday, releasing some players from training camp and assigning others to their AHL affiliate in Rockford.

The Hawks assigned forward Mike Liambas and defensemen Mathieu Brisebois, Dillon Fournier, Dennis Roberston and Nolan Valleau to Rockford.

Meanwhile, they released forwards Daniel Ciampini, Jake Dowell and Dane Walters and defensemen Sam Jardine and Nick Mattson from camp.

The Hawks take on the Canadiens in an exhibition Friday.
