BRIEF: Blackhawks recall, reward goalie Scott Darling

Feb. 23--A brutal Sunday for the Blackhawks resulted in a busy day for goaltender Scott Darling, who got a promotion and a two-year contract extension.

The Blackhawks recalled Darling and forward Joakim Nordstrom from Rockford of the American Hockey League and sent down goaltender Antti Raanta and winger Ryan Hartman after a dismal 6-2 home loss to the Bruins.

Later Sunday, the Hawks announced they had agreed to terms with Darling, 26, on a contract extension that will run through the 2016-17 NHL season.

Darling is 5-2-0 with a .937 save percentage and 1.97 goals-against average in seven games with the Blackhawks this season. In 26 games at Rockford, Darling was 14-8-2 with a .927 save percentage and a 2.20 goals-against average.
