BRIEF: Blackhawks' Michal Rozsival to be sidelined 12-16 weeks after ankle surgery

May 12--Michal Rozsival underwent surgery on his broken left ankle Tuesday and is expected to return to full hockey activity in approximately 12-16 weeks, the Blackhawks announced.

The surgery was performed by head team physician Dr. Michael Terry and Dr. Bradley Merk.

"The procedure went very well," Terry said in a statement released by the Blackhawks.

Rozsival, a 36-year-old defenseman, suffered the injury when he fell and landed awkwardly on the ankle Thursday during the second period of a 4-3, series-clinching Game 4 victory against the Wild at the Xcel Energy Center.

Rozsival had one assist during the playoffs.

"Tough loss," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said of the injury after that game. "It doesn't look good."

David Rundblad is expected to take Rozsival's place in the lineup in the Western Conference finals against the Ducks.
