Nov. 15--In a physical battle that typifies their rivalry, the Blackhawks outlasted the Blues 4-2 in the first games back from injury for Duncan Keith and Michal Rozsival. The visiting Hawks survived a strong third period from the Blues to pick up their first victory against a division opponent.
Keith makes an impact
It didn't take long for defenseman Duncan Keith to make his presence felt on the ice. Keith fired a blast from the point that deflected off Andrew Shaw for the Hawks' first goal of the night. Keith, clearly happy to be back on the ice, gave an emphatic fist pump after the goal.
Busy second period
Officials doled out nine penalties in an intense second period. The bad blood begain in the first period when Jonathan Toews drew a penalty for an illegal hit to the head on Blues captain David Backes. A large scrum ensued. In the second period, after Backes boarded Niklas Hjlamarsson, the gloves came off and Backes and Toews fought. All throughout the period, the rivals nipped at each other in multiple dustups as officials tried to control the game.
Kane buries his shot
Patrick Kane extended his points streak to 12 games when he scored a goal on a power play to give the Hawks the lead at 18:55 of the second period.
