Feb. 14--In an event scheduled months ago, the Chicago Blackhawks hosted the Jackie Robinson West Little League team Friday night at the United Center.
Embroiled in controversy after having their United States championship stripped by Little League International earlier in the week for using players outside the league's boundaries, the team was treated to dinner by the Hawks and watched the game against the New Jersey Devils.
"The Blackhawks will host the Jackie Robinson West baseball team at tonight's home game at the United Center, honoring a commitment that was made to the baseball team several months ago.," a Hawks spokesman said in a statement. "We are excited to have these young athletes as our guests tonight."
It is not known if the Hawks will acknowledge Jackie Robinson West players on the scoreboard or in any other fashion during Friday night's game.
