June 24--There promises to be plenty of pomp and circumstance when the Chicago Blackhawks raise their 2015 Stanley Cup championship banner Oct. 7 in their home opener of the 2015-16 season.
The NHL released the dates for the home openers Wednesday and revealed the Hawks would play host to the New York Rangers in an Original Six showdown at the United Center. Game time will be 7 p.m. and the Hawks said they will honor their Cup win prior to the game.
The Hawks will also play in the first regular-season NHL game in Brooklyn when they face the New York Islanders on Oct. 9 at the Barclays Center.
The rest of the NHL schedule will be announced Thursday at 9 a.m. Central.
