Sunday's recap: Blackhawks 2, Penguins 1 (SO)

Feb. 16--Summary

Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Patrick Sharp all scored in the shootout to lift the Blackhawks to a 2-1 victory over the Penguins on Sunday at the United Center. Corey Crawford outdueled Marc-Andre Fleury in goal to help the Hawks win their second in a row and extend their points streak to six games. Niklas Hjalmarsson scored for the Hawks in regulation and Nick Spaling had the Penguins' goal. The Hawks improved to 2-0-2 on their eight-game homestand.

Tribune's Three Stars

1. Crawford: Made 36 saves in regulation and overtime and stopped Kris Letang in the shootout.

2. Hjalmarsson: Wired in a shot from just inside the blue line for his second goal of the season.

3: Fleury: Tough-luck loser after keeping his team in the game with 31 saves before the shootout.

The quote

"I had an open lane so I was just trying to get a shot on the net. I was really glad to see it go in. It was a long time ago that I scored. It's always fun when I can chip in -- I haven't been (doing) enough of that this year, so fun." -- Hjalmarsson on his first goal since Nov. 9 against the Sharks.

Roster report

Defensemen David Rundblad and Tim Erixon and winger Daniel Carcillo were scratches for the Hawks. Christian Ehrhoff and Zach Sill sat for the Penguins.
