The Blackhawks' offense finally erupted as Kris Versteeg had two goals, Jonathan Toews added a goal and an assist and Patrick Kane and Brad Richards also scored Tuesday night at the Bell Centre. Bryan Bickell and David Rundblad each contributed two assists.
Hurting
Hawks winger Patrick Sharp had to be helped to the dressing room after appearing to injure his right knee following a hit from the Canadiens' Alexei Emelin early in the third period. Sharp had been playing well and his absence for an extended period would create a hole in the Hawks' lineup.
"We have some guys who have some skill and want more ice time," coach Joel Quenneville said. "Certainly, it's a lot of ice time, a lot of important ice time and somebody should look to take advantage of that."
Tribune's three stars
1. Corey Crawford: Veteran was brilliant from opening to final horn to earn his 11th career shutout with 28 saves;

The Hawks will unveil their 2015 Winter Classic sweaters at 5 p.m. Wednesday. The event will streamed live on chicagoblackhawks.com and the Blackhawks app. The Hawks will face the Capitals on Jan. 1 at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.

Scratches for the Hawks were winger Daniel Carcillo (right knee) and defenseman Michal Rozsival (healthy). Sitting for the Canadiens were Jarred Tinordi, Travis Moen and Jiri Sekac.
