July 09--You could say the FYI network is giving Billy Dec a try out.
The CEO of Rockit Ranch Productions -- which owns Sunda, Rockit Bar Grill and The Underground, among other places -- is co-hosting a food and travel special on the A channel with "Food Wars" host Camille Ford. The special, called "Big Night Out," airs Thursday at 9:30 p.m. CT and could potentially become a series depending on the response.
"We get dropped in a city we haven't been to before and have 24 hours to figure out the local scene through social media, talking with local bar and restaurant industry (people) and local word of mouth," Dec said over email. "We eat and drink our way through (the city) to tell a story about local culture.
"We filmed in Portland, Maine. The rest is up to social media, so hopefully people watch, spread the word and say where they want to see us go next."
Dec previously hosted NBC's "24/7 Chicago" and made a cameo on the first season of Fox's "Empire."
